I Time | 成长为自由而独立的灵魂

As Zhuangzi said, “a vacant room looks bright and brings good luck”. Wisdom comes from tranquility, and far-sightedness comes from calmness. Leaving blank space skillfully presents the highest level of traditional Chinese Ink wash painting.

Just as Chinese painting emphasizes leaving blank space, students also need space for self-directed living so that they can have independent imagination and thinking. It’s just like painters are able to create their works freely on white paper.

I Time

SCAers have a special "blank time" every week, which is completely managed by students themselves. We call it "I Time".

During this period, students first need to consider the following elements:

Who——I, classmates, teachers....

Where——classroom, library, MPH, swimming pool, playground, learning hub......

What——doing homework, reading, topic discussion, sports, personal exploration, writing, playing the piano....

Some students choose to do research in classrooms, some come to the library to read books, some go to the learning hub for learning suggestions, some run on the playground, and some do physical exercise under the guidance of PE teachers. They can make their own plans independently.

Of course, students may feel confused at first. Under the guidance of teachers, gradually, they can not only properly spend their "I Time" learning and doing other activities. By doing so, they can find things they love and meet more like-minded partners.

SCA is committed to helping students be independent by encouraging them to make their arrangements to read, play, explore and even just relax, instead of requiring them to study for higher grades all the time.

Teachers at SCA are to guide and help students improve their self-consciousness and self-motivation, so as to achieve self-improvement.
