G4-G5研修周回顾 | 挑战主持人!拿起话筒,为自信发声

Sabbatical Week

It can be seen that the MCs on stage not only can be a good speech giver, but also have their own unique style, winning them applause from the audience. But it should be noted that every exciting moment on stage is derived from the continuous efforts behind the scenes. During the three-day activity, the students from G4-G5 made a team and went to Guangdong Radio and Television Station to learn and experience what TV hosting is like.

Day 1 · Practices behind the Scenes

On the first day, basic skills training was conducted. A professional MC explained what a host should do, and carried out a language training for the students, which was planned for MCs-to-be.

To start with, pronunciation and expression practice is the first step. Under the guidance of the MC instructor, the students practiced the pronunciation of some words to have a warm-up. Then, tongue twister was introduced to get them prepared for on-stage hosting, which is definitely one of the useful tricks.

Before hosting, get the muscles and the breath ready is very important. Hey there, the smiles on the students‘ faces were becoming increasingly confident.

After preparation, the students went to the recording room for their first challenge: dubbing! The essentials of dubbing was first introduced. Next, the students were assigned roles in groups of two, and entered the recording room for their recording debut.

Day 2 · On-Stage Practice

An excellent MC is not only articulate, but also has his/her own unique presentation style, which is related to personality, profile, posture and even flexibility when dealing with difficult situations.

MC class was still moving on! Focusing on how to make a self-introduction, the instructors taught the students how to express themselves professionally as MCs, from aspects of verbal expression and physical postures. The students came to know that it is a long way to go before a professional MC could be nurtured. Moreover, it is even impossible without relentless efforts put in knowledge and skills.

Before coming on stage to actually record a program, the students also visited the studio and learned what would happen behind the scenes of TV program production.

Finally the time came that every student had the opportunity to step up to the stage and record their program.

The young hosts were too excited and nervous. When they stepped on stage, some suddenly forgot the words. But no worries, this might happen to everyone, everywhere. Thanks to the encouragement from the teachers, the students adapted themselves and successfully made their first MC recording.

Day 3 · Reflections

The third day also witnessed the learning report from every student. Back at school, the students summarized and presented their learning results, both individually and in groups.

In three short days, the students knew a lot about MC and how to be a good MC. With confidence and sense of achievement, the students received the certificates from the head master and this activity finally dropped down its curtain.
